Frequently asked questions.
What should I expect during my appointment?
Your appointment will be in the comfort of your own home at the time that works for you. We will review health history and then weigh baby prior to feeding. We will do a feeding together, assess how baby is latched on breast and/or bottle, how well baby feeds as well as how comfortable both you and baby are during the feeding. There will be time to practice latching or any alternate feeding method until you feel more confident feeding your baby. I can provide you with a copy of the feeding plan we develop together.
How many appointments will I need?
That is a hard one to answer! Sometimes one appointment is all a family needs to help you reach your goals, while other families wish to have a follow up visit for further support. There is never an obligation to book follow up.
Who can be at my Appointment and what do I need to prepare for my home visit?
Any one whom is important to you can be present at the appointment. Please don’t worry about animals being around, i love animals. Lastly, you don’t need to do anything to prepare for the appointment. Sit back and relax , I’m coming to you.
Does my health plan cover services?
As of July2023, public service employees have coverage now for lactation services, so check with your plan providers. Other health insurance companies may cover in home nursing services/ or lactation consultants but is a process, so call them and see what they need. Finally, some people have health spending accounts that you may be able to submit your receipt to for reimbursement.
